Bio
Aparajithan Narasimhan brings over 21 years of international experience in various fields including architecture, interior design, sustainable planning and development, construction management and real estate development. He has worked on various projects in India and the United States in residential, residential mixed-use, active-adult, senior living, health care and research laboratories both new construction and renovations totaling a value of more than US$1.7 billion.
After completing his undergraduate degree from India, Aparajithan pursued his master’s degree in Construction Management from Virginia Tech, USA. He is also an alumnus of the prestigious Glenn Murcutt Master Class, Australia.
Aparajithan is the Chairman and Managing Director of Madras Building Works Group that is a conglomerate of an architectural design firm, a furniture manufacturing unit and an interiors retail store. The company has successfully built three brands, hundreds of products and completed projects worth $100 million in its short period of existence. The types of projects include large residential communities, urban planning and single buildings including residences, offices, spas, hotels, restaurants, shopping malls, etc.
Aparajithan is also an avid contributor to the field of sustainable development. His research activities and papers have been recognized internationally. He is one of the editors for the latest “Ecocities Now” publication by Springer, released in December 2020. He was part of the Program Committee of EcoCity World Summit 2019 held in Vancouver. He is also on the Board of Directors of EcoCity Builders, a non-profit organization based in California that works on urban sustainability issues.
